Marco studied Geology and Geography at Westfälische-Wilhelms-Universität in Munster, Germany where he received his Bachelor of Science degrees in Geology and Geography in 1986. He continued his studies in Geography at The University of Hanover, Hanover, Germany and received his Master of Science in Geography in 1993. Between 1989 and 1992, he worked as a research assistant at Purdue University where he obtained a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1992. He specializes in fate and transport modeling of contaminants in soil and groundwater.
